Dec 2009To address the new ICH S2(R1) Guidelines, recommendations for conducting combined in vivo comet and micronucleus assays and addressing cytotoxicity is published by Helix3 in Mutagenesis.

Sep 2009:  Genotoxicity testing using the Acellular comet assay developed at Helix3 to minimize false positive in vitro test results.

Aug 20095th International Workgroup on Genotoxicity Tests (IWGT) Meets in Basal Switzerland to Discuss Recommendations for ICH Guideline Revisions.

Jan 2009:  Germ cell genotoxicity testing recommended for product safety.

Oct 2008:  The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) recommends the use of the in vivo comet assay as a follow up to an in vitro positive.



Mar 2008ICH Guidelines for Genotoxicity Testing modified to include the comet assay in the target organ(s).


Jun 2007:  The new chemicals legislation REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation, and Resriction of Chemicals) enters into force requiring additional testing to improve safety.
